Last week we got to spend the week on Tybee Island GA with my family to celebrate my sister’s wedding! Some of you will know that I’m from North Western Canada and my family still resides there so you may be wondering ‘why Georgia?!’. It all started with Larissa and Eric wanting a destination wedding, with a beach ceremony.
They wanted a location that was new to them and for their guests to explore. After considering places in the Caribbean, Hawaii and even Bali I suggested somewhere along the East Coast of the US. Matt and I had friends that had been to Savannah GA and absolutely loved it. After I mentioned it to them and they took it from there. They found out about Tybee Island and loved the fact that they could have their beach wedding, and also have Savannah with all of it’s food and culture so close to discover. Before we knew it they started booking their venue and places to stay, invitations were sent and the RSVP’s started rolling in.
Because they were having a destination wedding they expected the guest list to be pretty small, but were totally surprised and blessed by 50 of their friends and family making the trip from Western Canada for their special day!! The guest list even included 5 babies under the age of 1.5. Not only that but the vendors that helped make the day happen were from GA, Lancaster and Alberta. They definitely had a perfect day to commit their lives to each other in the presence of beloved friends and family. Here is Larissa and Eric’s Tybee Island destination wedding.
All the pretty dresses. She let all of her bridesmaids pick out their own dresses, so they were a variety of colors and lengths and looked fabulous together.
Sparkly flats for a beach wedding, love love love.
Details for Eric.
YouTubing how to tie a Tie ;)
The prettiest flower girl (I may be a little biased) sitting with daddy, watching Elmo while Lani does her hair magic :)
A braid and some curls for this little sweetie <3
And here begins the awesome vendor list! Kelsey Marshall brought her floral expertise all the way from Grande Prairie to Georgia, and with the help of a couple of friends made these gorgeous bouquets :)
Aren’t they lovely?! Look at that sparkly ribbon holding them together.
Let me introduce you to Jorden, aka Always Hungry, Always Eating Best Man ;) He’s pretty tall and apparently his pants were so tight he needed help getting his socks on, haha!!
Larissa’s groom looking pretty serious about the day’s activities.
All ready to marry his girl.
Getting Larissa into her beautiful gown! Larissa and Eric came to PA in the spring for Keziah’s first birthday and because we were all in the same place we went dress shopping in Lancaster for her. She picked this gown from In White. A huge thanks to the wonderful Shari for pointing us to the perfect dress. It fit the beach, as well as Savannah for pictures and we literally had people driving by during pictures yelling their congratulations and their love of her dress! I’d say it was the right choice ;)
Larissa and mom :)
I’m looking pretty serious about getting her veil in ;)
Sister’s :) So happy to see her marry Eric on this day!!
Auntie Rissa and our K <3
Larissa looking just stunning. Hair and makeup by our friend Lani, owner of Plum Salon & Spa in Lancaster PA. She and her husband traveled to GA with Matt and I to be a part of the wedding and help us get back to PA in time for another wedding….but that’s a whole different story.
Larissa and her girls, friends and sisters.
Their ceremony location on the beach <3
Miss Keziah navigating the sand with her basket of flowers.
Their ceremony was a lovely. 79 degrees with a light breeze, some tears, laughter and a lot of joy! That’s 26 degrees for all the Canadians reading this.
Sealed with a kiss.
After the ceremony it was time to head into Savannah to get pictures of the whole bridal party and of course the bride and groom. We started at Forsyth Park with it’s iconic fountain.
It was a fun bunch!
Loved the Spanish Moss, it’s just created a romantic atmosphere everywhere we went.
Just hanging out with the bride.
Love this one!
Eric and the guys.
Can we talk about how Eric and Jorden are making the exact same face?!
And then it was time for me to go from bridesmaid to photographer again as Matt and I walked around a little bit of Savannah to capture Larissa and Eric.
A kiss for his wife!!
One of my favorites, they are so happy. And seriously check out all those layers of lace on her dress, adore!
All of the architecture in Savannah is stunning, a great backdrop for these two. Those window casings are actually made of iron.
One of the many squares in the city.
Again I might be biased but she’s gorgeous don’t you think?!
Mrs and her Mr.
Love this, the couple, the fence, the twisty tree and the hanging moss, what’s not to love?!
Notice the guy in the doorway, he was yelling out his congratulations to them ;)
Eric + Larissa = Love.
Jorden and I were announced in right before Larissa and Eric and we went straight to the hors d’oeuvre table, prego and ‘Always Hungry Best Man’. Jordan’s hand was grabbing food before we even stopped walking. lol. Larissa and Eric started their first dance and……
Still eating ;p
Reception highlights. Speeches, the shoe game, cake, garter and bouquet toss, some dancing….and yes that’s me playing(ish) the ukulele. It was a good time! Also a big thanks to Jennifer with Savannah Beach Weddings for co-ordinating the day.
Sent away with sparklers, the ending of a great day!
Congrats Larissa and Eric. We love you and had a blast being such a big part of your day! XOXO
