When I found out Breeann & Dylan were engaged I knew I wanted to be there and hoped that they would still need photographers for their day. You see, both of their families hold a very special place in my heart. My sister and I grew up playing with Dylan and his siblings. Swimming in their pool, jumping on their trampoline, playing board games and making memories that will last a lifetime. I met Breeann’s family a little later in life and became closer to them when I started working at their men’s clothing store. For the years I lived in Australia I stayed in touch with Breeann’s parents and was proud to introduce them to Matt when we were engaged. Over the past few years we’ve stayed in touch with both of these families, yes less frequently, but we would see them when we were visiting Canada and always had a great time catching up!
That brings us to Breeann & Dylan, who met about a year and a half ago after being introduced by Breeann’s Dad. It didn’t take them long to start dating, and luckily for Dylan it wasn’t long before Breeann moved back home so they were once again in the same town and could pursue their relationship further. A country boy and a city girl learned how to make it work and enjoy each others differences, while enjoying the things they had in common.
In the midst of their new found romance they have had a very difficult year. Tragedy struck both families earlier this year with the loss of Dylan’s brother and the loss of Breeann’s mom. It breaks my heart when I think of both of these people gone from their lives and unable to be a part of their wedding day and the life that they now pursue together. It has been a year of tragedy and sadness, of questions and deep sorrow. And then in August there is the wedding of two people, who are so committed to a marriage that faces not only the good times but also the heartbreaking, it brings a joy to both families that can’t be contained.
On a very different note, we were beyond excited to find out they chose Jasper, Alberta as the location for their wedding. It is both Matt & I’s favorite place in the Canadian Rockies and I’m sure you will see why….
Gifts to one another, and Breeann’s awesome flats!
Breeann’s beautiful dress from White Orchid Bridal, and flowers for her hair.
Florals provided by Growers Direct Grande Prairie. I love the succulent accents!
Her garters, and that stunning blue water you see all over Jasper.
Dylan…..aka Dilly ;)
The final touches for Breeann.
His stunning bride.
Last portrait as a Miss :)
Letters and gifts to one another.
Getting ready to walk down the aisle.
Dad sees her <3
Fun fact, Breeann’s sister Kaidy got married just 8 days before, so here’s dad walking a daughter down the aisle for the second time in a week! Talk about emotions!!
The face every bride looks for in her groom. Tears of joy!
I love the color of the bridesmaids dresses, I think they matched the colors of the lake perfectly.
After they said their vows, they took time to pray together. Look at that backdrop! And the cross is such a wonderful centerpiece.
Their perfect day.
A kiss to seal the deal :)
After the ceremony and family pictures, we jumped in the vehicles and drove around Jasper with the bridal party for some pretty awesome pictures!
D + B
When they were talking about the wedding day, especially about the clinking of glasses and kissing, Breeann told Dylan that she would just be kissing him anyways, she didn’t need any encouragement. They are pretty cute together ;)
So, this is what happens in Jasper…..you’re just calming going about your day and then there’s a momma and baby elk that cross your path.
They had a seriously stunning day!
Friends and family <3
Matt & I had driven around the day before to find locations for pictures (not like it’s hard to find good spots!) and found this spot by the river. We originally wanted to go down on the stones but it rained the night before, so we opted for dry ground in stead of a river swim ;)
We had quite the gap between the ceremony and reception, so it was time for a coffee break at their favorite stop in Jasper, Bear’s Paw Bakery.
Unfortunately they were already out of white chocolate raspberry scones, but they don’t seem too upset ;)
The whole gang.
We took some time at the train station.
Mr & Mrs!!
At this point Dylan was starting to get a bit silly, you can totally see a cheeky grin in this kiss.
Then the hat came out.
I can’t tell who it looks better on.
Breeann and her girls.
Dylan and the guys.
They incorporated a lot of Birch into their details, so a stop in a Birch grove was a must!
Reception details including homemade granola for their wedding favors, the cake made by Breeann’s cousin and a lovely memorial table for her mom and Dylan’s brother.
It was quite the spread for dinner!
After dinner and speeches we stole them away for a few more shots at twilight.
One of my personal favorites of the wedding party.
They shared a song for the parent dances.
Dancing the night away.
Breeann & Dylan, it was an honor and a privilege to capture your wedding day. We love you and your families so much and are so grateful that we got to witness the two of you starting a new chapter of life together!
