You may remember Mary Lee & Mike’s engagement session from just a few days ago ;) That’s because we shot both their engagement photos and their wedding day within 48 hours! Last weekend we made the journey to a little town north of Toronto in Canada for Mary Lee & Mike’s special day. We had a lot of fun getting to know these two and it was fun to shoot somewhere completely new!
Almost their entire wedding was DIY and you could see their personalities shine in all of the details! Mike comes from a Dutch family, so there were some special additions to the reception decor (look for the windmill, ‘wooden shoes’ and their cake topper). Mary Lee looked beautiful in her wedding gown and her mom did a great job with the calla lilly bouquets. It was a very laid back and fun day filled with friends, family, laughs and some tears.
Mary Lee got ready at her house. I love the bright color of her living room.
Mike’s beautiful girl.
Stunning Mary Lee!
Harris Woolen Mill Ruins, the ceremony location.
Mike, looking pretty happy to be getting married :)
What a perfect entrance!
Very cool don’t you think?
Saying their vows.
She looks super excited to kiss her husband!!
They had a small bridal party, just her sister and his best friend. (And to mention again, Mary Lee & Katrina were in what could have been a very tragic accident the Saturday before the wedding, but made it out with minor injuries. Their mom made Katrina a sling to match her dress for the day)
Oh, you know, just hanging out at the ruins….
And this is where I almost died of happiness!! It’s just a phenomenal backdrop.
Love them <3
I love this one! I think it’s when Matt said, ‘ok now look at each other’….and they proceeded to look in opposite directions!
Me being a creeper again….always behind something with the big lens ;)
And yes, there are beaches in Canada!
Loving the evergreens.
So again I was creeping….and found myself in a tree that had great character….so I had them join me :)
Remember these guys?! Hay bale Mary Lee & Mike….meet the real Mary Lee & Mike!
Here are those wooden shoes, brought over from The Netherlands by family friends who attended the wedding.
Some reception details. Mary Lee made their cake.
MC for the night, Mr Andrew…..and me photo bombing….
Oh newlyweds ;)
Ok, one more story :) The day of their engagement session a tiny kitten wandered out of the soy bean field behind Mike’s shop. Mary Lee (and the rest of us) completely fell in love with the kitten and I guess the cat fell in love with her too because she stuck around. On the wedding day ‘Lucky’ found her way into Mary Lee’s lap for dinner and speeches and well, found herself taking part in the pictures too.
A stunning sunset to end their beautiful day.
Mary Lee & Mike, congratulations!! We are so thrilled we got to be a part of your day and look forward to the next time we see you :)
