A Gorgeous Spring Mount Joy Wedding – Marisa & Richard

post by nat

Marisa and Richard’s story starts when Marisa decided to join an online dating site to get material for her blog early last year. She and a friend had a blog where they wrote about the complexities of being single and since the online dating idea was hers, she got to sign up and start finding material ;) Two weeks in and Marisa was ready to call it quits as she was certain she had gathered enough research for a blog post. And then it happened, she got a ‘non-creepy’ message from some Canadian and just couldn’t let it go unanswered. Sure she waited two weeks before she actually answered, poor guy, but she did answer and what happened next is exactly what she least expected.

Marisa was living in South Africa at the time and Richard was in North Africa so after a few emails they began to Skype…..and Skype….and Skype. Mid way through the year while Marisa was on her way home for a visit they had their first date….in London! They had 23 hours to see if what they had developed over emails and Skype was the real deal. And they knew it to be true the moment they saw each other. A few weeks after that Richard visited her in South Africa and from there they were thinking and dreaming about what the future may hold.

They were engaged in North Africa on a trip to visit him and the wedding plans began! Matt & I were so excited to hear that they would be getting married here and that we’d get to capture their special day. We have known Marisa for years, but it has been fun getting to know Richard as well (especially since he is a fellow Canadian and grew up very close to where I did and knows some of my cousins and he’s a photographer……what are the odds?!).

Their wedding is a piece of their story, and we love that we got to capture it for them!

Marisa always wanted pictures with a weeping willow tree for her wedding so naturally we stopped at a private residence to get these next few pictures. The owner was all to happy to accommodate the happy couple.

Love it!

Then it was time to bring out the chair.

They both love coffee so much that they had a coffee bar for their cocktail hour complete with their own signature flat white.
