Once again Matt and I found ourselves flying across the country, somewhat last minute for a bit of an adventure. My parents were recently transfered to Mauritius aka the other side of the world, for work…..so we flew to Arizona to see my mom before she moves. She’s not from Arizona but that’s where we decided to meet up. It was very sudden, so my dad is already in Mauritius and we’re not sure of the next time we’ll see either of them. Hence the random trip to Arizona.
Thankfully we traveled to warmer weather….and the land of cacti. Random, I know, but I love the cactus. I mean really, who doesn’t love a mini cactus all decorated for Christmas?!
Ok, so we’re here in Arizona, which is right next to New Mexico….which is next to Texas….which is next to Oklahoma. Why is this relevant? Well, Matt has this goal of seeing all 50 States and he’s just 4 short. Two of those States being New Mexico and Oklahoma, so why not road trip while we’re out here?
Yesterday we left for Albuquerque, New Mexico and decided to stop at Starbucks for coffee, since we had a minor incident with the coffee pot the night before :s Anyways, we went through the drive through and when we got to the window were told that 6 cars before us someone payed for the drinks of the car behind them and it had continued on to us. Now, I’m not sure if you’ve ever been part of a Pay It Forward experience, but let me tell you it’s inspiring! We get so caught up in what we’re doing and how and when it needs to be done that we sometimes forget the world around us. And then a random stranger that I will never know decides to start a random act of kindness, which inspired each car behind them to keep it going!
I was seriously so blessed by this person and inspired to do it myself in the near future. We totally kept it going today, but I want to be someone who starts a random act of kindness. How about you? In this season of giving…..let’s remember to give, and to be generous. It really doesn’t take much to brighten someone’s entire day, and to share kindness to more people than you could imagine.
PS. Dawn & Ryan at Folklore, your coffee is still my fave :)
