Spring is my favorite time of year. It’s beautiful, temperatures are great, there’s lots of new life and it gives the opportunity to spend lots of time outside again! Matt and I have been talking about getting together a styled shoot for some time now and when my sister got engaged earlier this year we jumped on the opportunity.
You see normally for styled shoots you’d pick a couple that could model for the session, but we thought why not use a real couple who just got engaged and plan everything around their engagement? We had this idea of an elaborate spring picnic in the back of a truck, which totally fits Larissa & Eric’s personalities. Without much convincing we got them on board with the idea and set it all up for when they’d be visiting us in April.
The day arrived and it was stunning! The grass was green, the trees were starting to flower and it was sunny and warm. Together with an incredible team of vendors we pulled off a Real Styled Engagement Session :)
One of the reasons we love engagement sessions so much is because it allows us to get to know the couple. We get to see their personalities shine through and hear more about who they are as people. What they like, dislike, what they are interested in and most importantly how they interact as a couple. Our hope with this shoot was not only to bless Larissa & Eric because we love them, but to inspire engaged couples to go that extra bit with their engagement sessions and to really show who they are. So, without further ado here is Larissa & Eric on a Spring Picnic.
The concept of the shoot was an elaborate picnic. We also wanted to combine modern with a bit of vintage. Ben of Quiet to Riot Customs provided his ’69 Chevy C10 for the afternoon. We filled the truck with beautiful florals by Sandra Porterfield Floral Designs – Lancaster Pa and so many delicious things thanks to The Scarlet Runner – Lancaster, PA. All of this was set up against the beautiful backdrop of Pheasant Run Farm B&B – Lancaster, PA.
Sandra (Sandra Porterfield Floral Designs) and Hilary (The Scarlet Runner) are not only amazing to work with, their work is nothing short of incredible. Everything looked and tasted to absolute perfection. And seriously who doesn’t want to have their engagement session filled with beauty and good food?! Check out the awesome Cola Cooler Sandra rescued from her neighbors throw away pile!
Sandra’s creations are always stunning. Notice she has combined florals with fruits and veggies?
We have been wanting to work with Hilary (The Scarlet Runner) for some time now and wow she is every bit as amazing as we have heard! Everything looked so pretty and tasted even better!
So much color!
Picnic basket filled with goodies.
A nice place to relax in the back of the truck….surrounded by food ;)
Bright spring colors.
We set everything up before Larissa and Eric got there. We actually sent Larissa off to Plum Salon and Spa – Lancaster, PA to get her hair and makeup done. They arrived to the ‘set’ and we started their session right away, with multiple food and drink breaks….because yum!
Eric + Larissa.
Great day for a picnic!
Enjoying some local beer and check out that ring!
I absolutely love how everything came together!!
A quick outfit change and time for some wine.
That perfect time of day!
Did I mention that my sis is gorgeous?!
Hilary even makes super cute and DELICIOUS carrot cake in a jar.
This moment just happened as they were getting out of the truck and it’s one of my favorite moments of their whole session!
Ahhh, so happy!
Love this one of Eric, all smiles.
Sandra went all out and created another space for us to shoot under this flowering tree.
Her bling plus some asparagus….good combo I think ;)
On a rose.
Matt & I surprised them with a little engagement present that fit right into their session. This custom cutting board by AHeirloom – Custom Cutting Boards. Check them out, they have great products! I got Matt an Australian shaped cutting board for Christmas this year since that is where we met….but I digress….
Another one of this pretty girl.
As the sun was setting we changed locations a bit and went wandering around the grounds at Pheasant Run.
Some beautiful evening light.
Bride to be with her groom to be.
Larissa and Eric we are so happy for you guys! Both Matt and I are grateful for the time we have had to spend getting to know you Eric, even though we live so many miles apart. We’re thrilled for you both! Can’t wait for Tybee Island in November when we get to celebrate the two of you all over again!
